It’s not always easy to know which foods are the healthiest for our body. Having a list of alkaline foods and acidic foods will help us to make better choices for our health.

Why alkaline foods? Because we have an alkaline body and if we eat too many foods that are acidic our body will eventually become ill and diseased.

When I first started to alkalize for my health, I really did struggle to understand what type of foods I could eat. Unfotunately there are a lot of conflicting food charts in books, and on the internet. Each one advising differently on what foods are alkaline. Also what is acidic, and what is acidic but has an alkaline effect on the body! Yes, very confusing!

Through a lot of research and testing I’ve compiled the best alkaline foods list, using well respected microbioligist and nutritionist Dr Robert Young’s findings as a basis.

Alkaline foods are full of energy and are typically foods which are still in their natural state. For superior health benefits I highly recommend eating a 100% alkaline diet. If you are very ill/toxic/diseased then your body needs to heal itself, and it can best do that by excluding acidic foods completely.

When you are in peak health it is absolutely fine to eat a diet that is 80% alkaline and 20% acidic. This 80/20 rule is the best and really does apply to everything you do in life!

Below are a list of alkaline foods in their groups. These include different levels of alkalinity. There are highly alkaline, moderately alkaline, and slightly alkaline foods.

This list of alkaline foods is pretty comprehensive, but I will be adding to this regularly as I research more.

Out of all the alkaline foods the following are two of the absolute best to include in your diet:

Drinking more water is important, but drinking alkalizing water is crucial as the water we drink today is highly acidic and full of pollutants.

With each new decade, our bodies become more acidic as we continue to eat processed foods and drink toxic water.

Acidosis occurs as our body struggles to dispose of acids that are accumulating in the bloodstream. Our body works hard to restore proper pH balance by removing and neutralizing the acids, but our system becomes overwhelmed with waste. Our blood is polluted and unable to transport vital nutrients.

By simply drinking the right amount of alkalizing water we can prevent, and cure, ourselves of many of today’s diseases – even cancer!

What Is Alkalizing?

Alkalizing is where you change the structure of your drinking water. Tap water and most bottled waters are acidic, with a pH of lower than 7.0. To make alkalizing water we need to increase the pH to at least 7.5, but preferably higher to about 9.5. This restructuring of your drinking water, makes it more alkaline. This is important as our body has a natural pH of about 7.1 – alkaline.It is through years of research and trials that scientists have discovered that the human body needs to drink healthy water that has a pH of 7.5 or more.

The best way to eat alkaline vegetables is to either eat them raw or by steaming them lightly.

Boiling can take all of the nutrients out of the vegetables. All the goodness is left in the water and there is absolutely no nutrition in the boiled vegetable.

Canned vegetables have the same problem. They are left soaking in water and all of the nutrients end up in the water in the can.

A great way to get the alkaline from food, like fruits, is to blend them up in a drink. It is also recommended to blend vegetables too.

However, you should keep in mind which fruits are too high in sugar, like bananas, and not to consume too many of them. Another thing to think about when you eat food for alkalizing is to drink plenty of water. The recommended water you should be taking for optimum health is ionized alkalizing water.

It is widely known that 2 liters is the minimum amount we should be drinking. However, this is no longer the case as scientists have discovered the body should be consuming a liter of alkalized water for every 30 pounds you weigh. This will help your body drop unnecessary fat too.

When you focus on eating food for a balanced diet you really are giving your body the best nutrition for optimum health.
