Reading some raw food testimonials changed our lives!

Like the typical family nowadays we seemed to be always feeling ill. Picking up viruses, sickness and diarrhoea bugs, feeling tired all the time and much more.

There were times where we felt not too bad and tried our best to eat healthy. We used vitamin and mineral supplements, ate fruit and vegetables and the odd bit of juicing. (Well we thought this was healthy!)

I knew from doing detox diets before that the symptoms of cleansing the body can be pretty nasty and can mimic flu-like symptoms. Also your skin can get very itchy. This is because the skin is the largest organ of the body and is mainly where the body excretes acids and toxins.

The first thing we needed to do was drink lots of alkalizing water – approximately 1 liter for every 30lbs of body weight.

Transition From Illness to Wellness

Introducing raw foods was a challenge at times. We found it hard to cope with all the recipes at first so this is what we did to make it much easier to incorporate:


  1. We had a glass of raw juiced fruit and vegetables almost every day.
  2. We gradually increased our water intake to the required level of 1 liter per 30lbs body weight. We also used an Alkalark water container to drink our water. (The Alkalark is an amazing creation – it contains essential minerals that alkalize the water which helps to eliminate acids and toxins from the body)
  3. We added green powder to at least 1 litre of our water per day. (Green powder is full of enzymes from wheatgrasses and other green vegetables.)
  4. We had at least one large bowl of mixed raw fruit and vegetables a day to munch on.
  5. Eat lots of salads with sprouts – using Braggs amino acids and Herb dressings to add flavour!
  6. I have the occassional cooked meal – usually steamed vegetables and wholegrain rice. My partner has a steamed cooked meal most days and my two children have a cooked meal everyday (usually steamed).
  7. We also experimented with different smoothies using lots of raw organic ingredients.
  8. Also incoporated many superfoods, including goji berries and cacao nibs – the kids love these! Particularly as you can make desserts with them!
  9. Also love eating raw almonds and other raw nuts as well as Gillian McKeith’s Cookie Bites which are full of living enzymes!
  10. We experimented occassionally with recipes for main meals.

Overall we just love munching on raw foods. Never in a million years did I think I would enjoy eating this way or that I wouldn’t miss my chocolate, diet cokes and pancakes!

We are more content, calmer, relaxed, energetic, fitter, healthier – and excited!

Most of us associate the word detox with another fad diet.

However, raw food detox has been around since biblical times.

So what does detox actually mean?

I can’t emphasize enough the importance of the connection between raw food and health.

For most of us it’s really hard to imagine ourselves eating raw foods – apart from the obvious fruits or vegetables that we use in salads. The moment you mention raw food to somebody you can see them starting to feel uneasy and uninterested. Why?

Because we think of raw foods as bland and tasteless – we can’t after all taste nutrition. Nobody after a meal goes, “Wow that nutrition tasted great”! Since we as human beings are heavily conditioned we find it hard to break habits. Especially when a specific habit gives immediate pleasure.

Having an abundance of energy helps you to get a lot more done. Because you are eating right you will have fewer ups and downs – no more sugar slumps.

With all that said, it’s not about me suggesting that you eat raw food. It is more about imprinting upon you an understanding of WHAT you are eating and HOW it affects your daily life.

When you understand it for yourself you will naturally start to improve your eating habits. You will directly understand the consequences of eating poorly.

So if you want live everyday with health and vitality in abundance, then I can’t stress enough the importance of adopting a raw food diet. Raw food and health go hand-in-hand.

Eating processed foods that are dead WILL leave you feeling that way – dead! But eating foods that are full of life and energy will give you just that – a long healthy life full of energy!
