Like the typical family nowadays we seemed to be always feeling ill. Picking up viruses, sickness and diarrhoea bugs, feeling tired all the time and much more.
There were times where we felt not too bad and tried our best to eat healthy. We used vitamin and mineral supplements, ate fruit and vegetables and the odd bit of juicing. (Well we thought this was healthy!)
We would pick ourselves up and a few weeks later – bam! We were floored again.
On top of all this I suffered from endometriosis, M.E. and allergies< b>. My partner suffered from breathing problems, sleeping problems and cerebreal eczema. Our daughter suffered the most with allergies, asthma and eczema.
It wasn’t until we read raw food testimonials from people that had suffered many similar complaints that we knew we had the answer to all our problems.
Why? Because we discovered from these testimonials how much foods affect your health. Also, that most people suffer from candida albicans. We realized that this was the reason we were never able to recover completely – in fact we were becoming more ill!
Candida is a fungus that gets out of control in your body when you eat foods containing a lot of yeast and sugars. Also over use of antibiotics can exacerbate the condition.
Eating only raw alkalizing foods was the only way for us to be healed.

How Did It Work For Us?
After doing indepth reading of raw food testimonials I gradually introduced the raw food diet into our lives.
I knew from doing detox diets before that the symptoms of cleansing the body can be pretty nasty and can mimic flu-like symptoms. Also your skin can get very itchy. This is because the skin is the largest organ of the body and is mainly where the body excretes acids and toxins.
The first thing we needed to do was drink lots of alkalizing water – approximately 1 liter for every 30lbs of body weight.
I noticed a difference within a few days of taking lots more water (I’d always disliked taking water and now understood why I was so ill).
The alkalizing water tasted much better and after a couple of days I started to really enjoy taking it and also I started to crave it! Unheard of!
Benefits
After about a week I couldn’t believe how healthy my skin looked and I started to feel more energetic and could think clearer – not as much “brain fog”!
My partner noticed similar benefits. He’s also a lot calmer as coffee and sugars made him agitated!
My daughter’s skin was initially worse and I believe that is because she has eczema and the toxins and acids were being excreted from her body.
However, after the first couple of weeks of taking more water and eating more raw foods the difference in her health was unbelievable!
She looked healthier – no more itchy, flaky skin. No more asthma related coughs and overall she seemed more joyous and energetic!
The greatest thing for me and the rest of our family is we got to our ideal weight. Particularly for me as I was two and a half stones overweight. I lost most of it within 3 months.
I tried for years to lose weight after having my second child, Keir. It was a real struggle. Eating raw alkaline foods was the easiest, healthiest – and quickest way to lose fat. I say fat because the other tmes I tried to lose weight I was losing muscle and water and not much fat!!
Now we all have our own raw food testimonials!
Transition From Illness to Wellness
Introducing raw foods was a challenge at times. We found it hard to cope with all the recipes at first so this is what we did to make it much easier to incorporate:
- We had a glass of raw juiced fruit and vegetables almost every day.
- We gradually increased our water intake to the required level of 1 liter per 30lbs body weight. We also used an Alkalark water container to drink our water. (The Alkalark is an amazing creation – it contains essential minerals that alkalize the water which helps to eliminate acids and toxins from the body)
- We added green powder to at least 1 litre of our water per day. (Green powder is full of enzymes from wheatgrasses and other green vegetables.)
- We had at least one large bowl of mixed raw fruit and vegetables a day to munch on.
- Eat lots of salads with sprouts – using Braggs amino acids and Herb dressings to add flavour!
- I have the occassional cooked meal – usually steamed vegetables and wholegrain rice. My partner has a steamed cooked meal most days and my two children have a cooked meal everyday (usually steamed).
- We also experimented with different smoothies using lots of raw organic ingredients.
- Also incoporated many superfoods, including goji berries and cacao nibs – the kids love these! Particularly as you can make desserts with them!
- Also love eating raw almonds and other raw nuts as well as Gillian McKeith’s Cookie Bites which are full of living enzymes!
- We experimented occassionally with recipes for main meals.
Overall we just love munching on raw foods. Never in a million years did I think I would enjoy eating this way or that I wouldn’t miss my chocolate, diet cokes and pancakes!
We are more content, calmer, relaxed, energetic, fitter, healthier – and excited!
I’ve never been this healthy in my life and at almost 40 now I feel and look at least 10 years younger! It’s Incredible and what’s more is it is really easy to stick to eating raw foods. Your body starts to crave the good stuff and I feel sick when I eat junk food now.
